Brian Ralph, Daybreak, and Adam Messer, Savannah Authors Expo
The Savannah Authors Expo hosts local authors from various genres and offers poetry readings, panels on writing and publishing, and explorations of other art forms related to the written word. This week, Leigh and P. T. talk with Adam Messer, the expo’s organizer, about the history and purposes of the event, and cartoonist Brian Ralph, a professor at SCAD and creator of the post-apocalyptic graphic novel Daybreak — a first-person, ghoulie-filled adventure that is the basis for a new series on Netflix.
The Savannah Authors Expo also features Ryan Dunn, a paranormal investigator with Afterlife Tours, Word Beat Poetry — with performances from Melanie Goldey, Jennifer Harris, Jayla “JayBird” Lawton, and Monica Lee Floyd — and panels on Black speculative fiction, LGTBQIA writing, horror, and the ins and outs of publishing. In between, there are meet-and-greets with authors, ready and willing to sign books all day.
The Savannah Authors Expo runs Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Savannah Coffee Roasters, 215 W. Liberty St.
