Alto concert singer and musical educator Abbey Terry on Music: Local and Sustainable 04/04/2018
Music Local and Sustainable on Wednesday night from 9-10pm on WRUU-LP, at 107.5 in Savannah and wruu.org elsewhere will feature alto concert singer and musical educator Abbey Terry.
Abbey Terry is a native of Louisville, KY, where she was active in church music and community theater and the arts. In 2015 and 2016 she was the grateful recipient of the Joyce Luettich Memorial Choral Scholarship from Skidaway Island United Methodist Church, which has allowed her to work toward a BA in Vocal Performance, first at Armstrong State University, and recently at Savannah State University, where she is a student of Dr. Christopher Jordan (voice and opera) and Professor Quynh Shannon (piano). She now sings professionally for St. John’s Church in Savannah (Episcopal), and works with the adult and children’s choirs there on music theory, sight reading, and vocal technique. A voice, piano, and drama instructor with Portman’s Music since 2015, Abbey formerly worked as a library technician, secretary, cook, and dementia caregiver. She is the mother of a 12-year old daughter, who shares her interests in theater, art, and science.
