To bring local community radio to Savannah’s diverse and dynamic community, and provide a voice to local organizations, events, and individuals in alignment with our values.

Our Core Values

WRUU 107.5 fm-lp, “Savannah Soundings” Community Radio with a Global Soul is a ministry of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah (UUCS) [501-c3] Its Executive Task Force [ETF] made of members of the community and the UUCS, work to bring programming to Savanna’s diverse and under served community groups, both secular and non-secular programs, music and talk, live and prerecorded content.  WRUU 107.5 fm-lp Savannah Soundings “Community Radio with a Global Soul,” can be heard on car stereos and through headphones from downtown to midtown to Georgetown to Pooler, with signals reported as far away as Tybee Island and over the world via streaming, in a fiscally responsible and sustainable way, and  in alignment with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah values:

2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
8th Principle: Build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppression in ourselves and our institutions.

WRUU's Executive Task Force 

The Executive Task Force (ETF) Oversees that all the committees develop policies that ensure that WRUU provides a diverse radio programming for the people of metro Savannah, in a fiscally responsible and sustainable way, aligned to our values. 

WRUU’s Executive Task Force Composition:

    • Voting members include:
      11 individuals with 2 representing the UUCS, 5 representing the 5 WRUU Teams (Fundraising, Governance, Infrastructure, Media, and Programming), 2 At – Large.
    • Non- voting ex – officio members of the ETF are the:
      Immediate Past-Chairperson. UUCS Minister. Community Advisory Board (CAB) chair members, a Volunteer Coordinator, and a Community Advisory Board Liaison.
    • Selection of ETF members:
      Team Leader members: Each Team Leader (5 Teams) is chosen by the Team itself in consultation with the ETF chair.  UU members: The UUCS shall choose 2 ETF members.  The 5 Team and 2 UU members of the ETF shall select 2 At – Large members.
    • ETF officers and their functions:
      Chosen via consensus, officers of the ETF include: 1) Chairperson, 2) Chairperson-Elect, 3) Secretary, and 4) Treasurer. Only ETF members may serve as ETF Officers. The Officers shall be elected at the September ETF Meeting. No person may hold more than one office at a time.

WRUU’s Executive Task Force Members 2023-2024

The ETF meets once a month on the third Monday of the month. A quorum of 5 ETF members is necessary to conduct business.

WRUU’s Executive Task Force Teams

    • Fundraising – Paying the Bills. The Fundraising team task is to put find ways to get financial support through community sponsorships and grants that will help to cover our daily cost of broadcasting, including utilities, and repair or replacement of equipment by creating fundraising campaigns, and events.
    • Governance – Keeping It Accountable. The governance team will work to ensure that WRUU serves the community, maintains the highest ethical standards, and complies `with all regulations and best ethical practices. The Secretary and Treasurer will be members of the Governance Team. They will ensure appropriate records are kept and financial standards are being utilized.
    • Infrastructure – Building the Station. The infrastructure team works with our radio engineer on maintaining studio and station systems. This includes the transmission system, and studio spaces. They will identify new equipment needs and costs, and will work with the engineer to ensure licensing and proper equipment requirements are met.
    • Media – Tuning In the Community. The media team will write and distribute press releases, and manage the WRUU website, social media presence, and the “Street Team”. They will develop marketing collateral maketing materials and PSA guidelines, and assist the fundraising team in creating effective event messaging.
    • Programming – Creating the Programs. The program team will work to identify programming that supports WRUU’s vision, mission, and values. They will research music and syndicated content licensing, and ensure a balance between music, news, commentary, and literary programs, and will review community & congregational surveys to identify areas of programming need/interest
    • Community Advisory Board (CAB) This independent board develops, and engages in, outreach strategies to identify gaps in community service as well as areas of positive community response to WRUU programming through survey development, distribution, and analysis and other means as identified by team members.  
    • Volunteer Leaders  Coordinates with the ETF chair and/or other Team leaders to identify various projects that need their assistance.

      They oversee volunteers, who aren’t already a member of one of the station Teams, to ensure the needs of our Teams are being effectively supported. Volunteers can help with various project activities like: pledge drives, visibility opportunities at street and arts fairs, festivals or live music events. This is a great chance for volunteers who can’t currently commit to full Team participation to help on limited time commitment project.

WRUU’s Community Advisory Board.

The Community Advisory Board operates independently of our governing body. Most importantly, they assure that the public is heard. Please consider dedicating a bit of your time – only four meetings per year for two years – to serve your community by helping to provide a voice for those around you.
