Unplugged: Roots musicians Amythyst Kiah, Tony Furtado headed to Savannah 09 May 2017 Bill Dawers

On May 12, another acclaimed roots musician will be in town. Multi-instrumentalist Tony Furtado, who has been performing for nearly three decades, will play an early show at Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah.

If you don’t know Furtado’s work, open Spotify and check out his 2017 album “Cider House Sessions (Live at Reverend Nat’s),” a heady mix of bluegrass, country and other traditional American styles.

He plays a variety of instruments but might be best known for his banjo work. He’s a stellar songwriter.

Furtado will perform at 7 p.m. May 12 at Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah, 311 E. Harris St. Advance tickets ($20) are available online via Eventbrite.
