King Coffin
Conrad Aiken
WRUU host Orlando Montoya joins Leigh and P. T. this week for Savannah’s annual celebration of poet and novelist Conrad Aiken. The month of August marks Aiken’s birth (1889) and death (1973), both of which occurred in Savannah (and he is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery), even though he spent much of his life elsewhere. This year, we touch upon King Coffin, a novel of psychological realism inspired by the infamous case of Leopold and Loeb, and the poem “Preludes for Memnon.”
