Take a drive through the 20th-century proposals for health care reform
On November 10, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case of California v. Texas, the latest challenge to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This isn’t the first legal test of the ACA, but the Court itself has greatly changed. We have to wait to see how the Court will rule, but how did we get here? Last week, we started down the road of health care reform in the 20th century. This week, we continue the journey, starting with the end of the Truman presidency up through passage of the ACA itself.
