A conversation with Tim Arnold
According to Aldo Leopold, humans have a moral responsibility to the natural world. Rather than dominating a “great chain of being” whose other inhabitants exist merely for consumption, we are part and parcel as well as stewards of the environment. The land ethic perhaps shares much in common with a Confucian virtue ethics and an ethics of care — for people, the land, and strengthening the relationships between the two. Savannah’s environment includes the marshes, beaches, and the Intercoastal Waterway, and this week, Tim Arnold of the Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers joins Leigh to discuss the state of our shore … in the time of COVID and beyond.
