Tonight on Contemporary Classics, I have two conversations. First a conversation with American composer Sarah Kirkland Snider about her new album release “Mass for the Endangered” a mass about the growing climate crisis. The second conversation is with Canadian composer Julia Mermelstein which was conducted at the 2020 Winnipeg New Music Festival in January, 2020. We talk about her life and three compositions”Inner Forms”, “density swells upclose in breath” and”out of grains, within clouds” all from 2019.
