Science fiction initially was fine entertainment and then became an outlet for prophecy as technology advanced. But it has always had solid writing. Ray Bradbury, according to some, is most responsible for merging speculative fiction with literature. In Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and a spate of short stories, he used classical literary techniques to create his worlds. Leigh Rich, P. T.
