Americans and the Holocaust
A conversation with Autumn Johnson, Elliot Karp, Dr. Lisa Costello, and Dr. Dan Skidmore-Hess
In the lead up to and during World War II, what did Americans know about the Holocaust, and what more could have been done to rescue and aid Jews and others victimized and brutalized under the Nazi regime? These are questions the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has posed in a traveling exhibition that honors the institution’s twenty-fifth anniversary. This week, Georgia Southern librarian Autumn Johnson, professors Dan Skidmore-Hess and Lisa Costello, and Hillels of Georgia CEO Elliot Karp join Leigh to discuss their roles in bringing the exhibit (and more) to Statesboro and its implications for our present and future.
