A conversation with Dr. Jack Simmons and Vuk Pavlovic
Author and philosopher Jack Simmons specializes in metaphysical comedies with romantic twists, and his upcoming play (starring Vuk Pavlovic) is no exception. The Thin Tweed Line centers around Sarah, a philosophy and gender studies professor, who has found herself in an ethical pickle. To secure the grant she needs for research that will reshape feminism, she must reduce herself to matchmaker and find a date for the dean’s latest hire. But the only viable candidates are her politically incorrect colleagues, who disdain the watering down of education. This week, Leigh talks with Dr. Simmons and Vuk about the play and the state — and future — of academia.
