“La española inglesa” (“The Spanish-English Lady”)
Cervantes
Don Quixote immortalized Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra as a writer, but he was also a playwright, a poet, and an author of short stories. One of the latter, “The Spanish-English Lady,” jumps across three mutually hostile cultures and echoes his own personal experience with two of them: Spanish and Ottoman. This time, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C discuss this story and the eventful life of Cervantes against the (historical and very pressing) backdrop of the perils of the sea.
