Robert Lowell
Robert Lowell, the scion of a Boston Brahmin family (that included poets James Russell Lowell and Amy Lowell), was a difficult and rebellious child — though one who grew to become a master of unconventional thought with gorgeous, rich verse describing it. He strongly influenced the poets of his day, both as a teacher and as a mentor … and was “added to the syllabus” during his lifetime. This week, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C discuss some of Lowell’s verse and the life that produced it.
