Selected Poems
Robert Southey
Robert Southey lived through and fully participated in one of the most tumultuous periods in British history. He befriended Wordsworth and Coleridge and attacked and was attacked by Byron. Today, he is known for “The Story of the Three Bears” (“Goldilocks”), his thoughts after Blenheim, and his prose biographies of post-Napoleonic British statesmen. He was once elected to Parliament without knowing he was running. This week, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C discuss Southey’s life and poetry.
