Irish Verse
Selections from Oliver Tearle
’Tis a fine day to look at Irish poetry. From the earliest bards to the poets who shaped the twentieth century, Ireland has used poetry as a medium for storytelling, romance, culture, and politics. And their observations are never keener than when they look at themselves. This week, as the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations wind around the studio, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C examine eleven Irish poems, from Moore and Yeats to Boland and Muldoon.
