The Life and Legacy of Jane Fishman
Mary Landers and Jessica Leigh Lebos
Jane Fishman’s writing frequently caught the essence of Savannah and the “human condition” and our place in both. Her columns captured the emotional and the humorous — often in the same sentence — and created unforgettable insights and aphorisms (which she tended to attribute to others) and a legacy that may long remain rivaled. She had a love of gardening, little dogs, and literature and language writ large and small, and her expertise with plants and people provided both practical advice and a sort of philosophy of life. This week, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C talk with Savannah writers Mary Landers and Jessica Leigh Lebos about Jane’s life and work.
