TheMetropolitan Opera’s 2024-25 season of Saturday matinee radiobroadcasts continues with a festive performance from Christmas Day,1982: Hanseland Gretelby Engelbert Humperdinck. The beloved fairy tale, sung in English,starred Met favorites Frederica von Stade and Judith Blegen as theresourceful children – and the legendary Rosalind Elias as theWitch. Thomas Fulton conducted the Met Orchestra and Children’sChorus in Humperdinck’s sumptuous, folk-inspired score. Hanseland Gretelwill be heard over the RobertK. Johnson Foundation-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Networkat 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 28.
