Tonight on Evening Eclectic I am talking with Dr. Ted Olson, a professor of Appalachian Studies and Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Music Studies at East Tennessee State University. He is the complier and author of the essay and track notes of the compilation “Doc Watson: Life’s Work – A Retrospective”. “Doc Watson: Life’s Work – A Retrospective” is a compendium of over 100 Doc Watson recordings with biographical information about Doc Watson and a detailed track notes for each of the over 100 recordings. “Doc” Watson was a legendary, American guitarist, songwriter, and singer of bluegrass, folk, country, blues, and gospel music. He received eight Grammy awards including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Olson also has curated a program called Doc at 100 where he and 3-4 musicians who knew and worked with Doc Watson present a concert and program exploring the music of Doc Watson.
