From Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Martha and The Vandellas, The Four Tops to Bob Seger, J. D. Souther, Glenn Frey, and Eminem. Dave Maraniss has written a terrific book called Once In A Great City, which records the fortunes of the city after World War II, including the rise of Motown.This week Brian Renner will play some of the classic Detroit music and  use the book as a guidepost.  P.
