Contemporary Classics

This Tuesday (10/22) from 8-10pm on Contemporary Classics, the roots of modern percussion will be discussed with composer Martin Gendelman. We will be including music by Xenakis, Stockhausen, Cage, Manoury and Donatoni. 10/22/2019.

This Tuesday (10/15) at 8-10pm on Contemporary Classics is a highly unusual Composer Conversation with Gordon McGladdery better known as the musical artist “A Shell in the Pit” who is a composer for video games. We will be mostly talking with Gordon about the award winning video game “Wandersong”. 10/15/2019.

Tue. 8 pm EDT- This week on Contemporary Classics is a tribute to both the soprano Jessye Norman who died on this Monday and composer Christopher Rouse who died on September 21st.

Tue. 8 pm EDT- on Contemporary Classics I am featuring an interview with composer Donnacha Dennehy and Alarm Will Sound’s Artistic Director Alan Pierson to talk about the powerful recently released album “The Hunger”. In addition I will be talking with Donnacha Dennehy about his life and other works. 10/01/2019.

She is one of the composers featured at the Savannah Philharmonic’s Larsen Musician Spotlight Series concert entitled “Le Resistance: Composers in the modern era” which will be at 5:00pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension. 09/10/2019

Tue. 8 pm EDT-This Tuesday on Contemporary Classics from we are celebrating Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which earlier this year suffered terrible damage from a fire. We will be featuring music either recorded in Notre Dame itself, is performed on the organ at Notre Dame in Paris or otherwise associated with this great Cathedral. 08/27/2019

Tue. 8 pm EDT- This Tuesday on Contemporary Classics is my interview with composer Martin Gendelman. During the interview we talked about the tribute album to Alberto Ginastera and about Gendelman’s work based upon Ginastera’s 12 Preludios americanos.
