Michael Nyman writes classical music and operas – he prefers them. But his most listened-to work was from the score of the movie, The Piano. We’ve also got music from the new age supergroup FLOW, some jazz from an old version of Fourplay (that’s Lee Ritenour on the guitar), and more from Charles Van Duerson and Chuck Mangione.
FLOW is Lawrence Blatt (guitar), Fiona Joy (piano), Will Ackerman (electric guitar) and Jeff Oster (trumpet). They are finishing up a tour behind the album – the last three dates are in Nashville, Philadelphia, and New York. The New York date is in Carnegie Hall.
Fourplay is another group of notables – Bob James on piano, Nathan East on bass, Harvey Mason on drums, and up until this year, a guitarist. The first was Lee Ritenour, then came Larry Carleton, and then Chuck Loeb, all bright names. Chuck unfortunately passed away this year, and the group went on hiatus, with the promise of a return in 2019. I hope some recording goes with that promise.
All that, more music, and P.T. Bridgeport’s post-hurricane thinking. Join us.
