National Jazz MuseumThis week on Evening Eclectic – The Ralph Ellison music collection.  The author Ralph Ellison was a voracious lover and collector of music and did extensive writings on music.  On the Sunday September 9thshow we will be featuring music from his collection including not only the expected Duke Ellington, John Lewis, Ella Fitzgerald, The Modern Jazz Quartet and Stan Getz but also classical music such as songs by Francis Poulenc sung by Leontyne Price to Igor Stravinsky piano pieces from Petrouchka performed by Maurizio Pollini.  We will be sampling from Ralph Ellison’s extensive collection, and we will have an interview with the National Museum of Jazz in Harlem’s senior scholar Loren Schoenberg to talk about the museum where this collection is held.  All of this on Evening Eclectic this Sunday September 9thfrom 10pm –midnight EDT on WRUU-LP Savannah 107.5 FM and wruu.org.
